Leadership
Danube International School Vienna believes that leadership is a shared state that all members of the community (students, parents, teachers, principals and directors) must embrace to enable the school to fulfill its Vision, Mission and Aims. Below are some quotes that summarize some of the ideals of leadership at DISV.
THEODORE HESBURGH: "The very essence of leadership is that you have to have a vision."
RALPH NADER: ".. the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers."
PETER DRUCKER: "The leaders who work most effectively, it seems to me, never say "I." And that's not because they have trained themselves not to say "I." They don't think "I." They think "we"; they think "team." They understand their job to be to make the team function. They accept responsibility and don't sidestep it, but "we" gets the credit. This is what creates trust, what enables you to get the task done."
HENRIK IBSEN: "A community is like a ship; everyone ought to be prepared to take the helm."
It is the responsibility of the Ian Piper (Director), Jennifer McLaughlin (Elementary Principal) and Matthew Savage (Secondary Principal) to enable the goals and quotes above to come to fruition.
